Undergraduate degree in Veterinary Medicine by the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (1986), Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine by the School of Veterinary Medicine (1990) and PhD in Animal Science by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1994). Post-doctorate in molecular genetics applied to pork production at Iowa State University (2006) and in genomic selection of pigs at Wageningen UNiversity of Research in partnership with the Institute for Pig Genenics – TOPIGS, Netherlands 2008. She is currently a full professor at the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Viçosa. She has experience in the area of Genetics, with an emphasis on Animal Genetics, working mainly on the following topics: genomic selection and broad genomic association with emphasis on pigs and cattle, proteomics, post genomics and functional genomics, having already supervised/co-supervised more than 120 theses and dissertations on the subject. She has more than 230 articles published in full and more than 300 abstracts/expanded abstracts in congresses.
