Graduated in Veterinary Medicine by the State University of Londrina (1992), master’s degree in Veterinary Pathology by the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1995), PhD in Animal Science by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2005) and postdoctoral degree in gene editing at the University of California-UC Davis (2019). He was a visiting researcher at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center – Agricultural Research Service – USA (2004). He has been a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation since 1997. He develops research with biotechnologies of animal reproduction, mainly in the areas of in vitro production and embryonic development, heat stress in oocytes and embryos, genetic engineering and gene editing in embryos of domestic animals. He is also currently a professor and advisor of master’s and doctoral programs in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Biological Sciences (Genetics and Biotechnology) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and Reproduction, Health and Animal Welfare at the Jose do Rosário Vellano University (Unifenas).
