Graduated in Veterinary Medicine by the State University of Londrina (1999), Master’s degree in Animal Science by the State University of Londrina (2000) and PhD in Food Sciences by the University of São Paulo (2005). He completed training at Washington State University, Pullman, WA, USA, between August 2019 and July 2020 (PVE Sr scholarship, CAPES). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Viçosa, in the Department of Veterinary, and a researcher in the area of microbiology of foods of animal origin, with research projects funded by CNPq, CAPES and FAPEMIG. He has experience in the area of Food Science, with emphasis on Food Microbiology, working in two lines of research: Lactic Acid Bacteria (antimicrobial activity, production and characterization of bacteriocins, technological and probiotic potential, virulence) and Food Pathogens (occurrence and prevalence in production chains, key points for contamination, pathogenic aspects, prevention and control of contamination).
